Paul Wheatley

Dr Paul Wheatley received his BSc & PhD degrees at the University of St Andrews in 1999 & 2003, respectively. On completion of his PhD, he started postdoctoral work in the group of Prof Russell Morris FRS which was to investigate zeolites as nitric oxide storage and delivery materials.

His research focus is quite extensive and encompasses aspects of synthesis, characterisation and applications of zeolites and MOFs. He has played a key role in the development of new synthesis strategies of zeolites (ionic liquid & ADOR routes) and large-scale synthesis of MOFs. His strengths in characterisation techniques lay mainly in X-ray diffraction (single-crystal and powder) and gas adsorption. He has developed both zeolites and MOFs for storage and delivery of nitric oxide and is looking to further his scope of knowledge by investigating the catalytic behaviour of ADOR zeolites.

His research has led to over 60 publications (H-index of 30 with almost 6000 citations) together with 3 patents.
