Vanessa Pimenta

I have graduated in 2008 from the University of Évora (Portugal) with a bachelor’s Degree in chemistry. I have then moved to France where I joined the University Paris-Sud 11 (Orsay) where I received my second bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. In 2012 I had obtained my master degree in Chemistry of Materials from University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris).

For my PhD I have joined the group of Prof Maisonneuve at the University of Le Mans, where I worked on the synthesis of fluorinated metal-azolate frameworks with tunable porosity for energy applications. After my PhD in 2015, I have joined the group of Prof Tarascon at Collège de France to develop the synthesis and characterisation of new high energy density cathodes for Li-ion batteries.

In June 2017, I have joined the University of St Andrews for a postdoctoral position with Prof Russel Morris and Dr Robert Armstrong. My research is focused on the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks as efficient anodes for Li/Na-ion batteries.

Outside the lab I like traveling, cooking and sports.
