I received both my B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Business Chemistry from the Heinrich-Heine University, located in my home town Dusseldorf, Germany. After an internship at BASF SE, in Ludwigshafen, Germany, I discovered my passion for materials chemistry and research involving MOFs. Thus, I moved to St Andrews in September 2016 to continue my research in MOFs within the Prof Russell Morris group. During my internship I investigated gas separation and adsorption properties of MOFs and completed my time there with the dissertation ‘Selected Metal-Organic Frameworks for Gas Separation’. In my PhD, however, I will look into MOFs for potential medical applications. In particular, I am interested in MOF-polymer composite materials and their nitric oxide storage and release properties as well as SEM/FIB techniques.
Outside of my PhD life I enjoy baking, cooking and playing tennis.
