Lauren McHugh

I completed my MChem at the University of St Andrews in 2015, where in my fourth year I worked with Professor Terry Smith, designing potential drugs for African sleeping sickness. In my fifth year, I was supervised by Professor Phil Lightfoot and my research involved the synthesis of novel hybrid perovskites.

I have remained in St Andrews for Postgraduate study and my PhD is in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (dstl) My research involves the synthesis and characterisation of MOFs and their subsequent use in the removal of toxic gases from contaminated airstreams.

Outside Chemistry, my hobbies include playing guitar, football and yoga.
